Sheryl recently retired from a very successful and rewarding career of teaching instrumental music for thirty-one years. Twenty-eight of those years were with the South Haven Public Schools. She is presently a licensed massage therapist and has established her own businesses, Serenity Shores Massage and KapShots Photography, both located in South Haven., Michigan
Some of Sheryl’s fondest childhood memories were those spending time with family and friends at the beach and at nearby inland lakes. Exploration, adventure and wonder became her best friends while growing up on a ten acre estate on the St. Joseph River. It was there that she developed a love for wildlife and nature. Shortly before retiring from teaching in 2012, she began seeking new avenues for her creativity. She decided to start taking a camera with her on all of her walks and adventures and since then has taken thousands of landscape pictures in Southwest Michigan and along the shoreline of Lake Michigan
Learning this new art has been a way for her to express and share her creative and artistic passions. These past several years of taking pictures has been a reminder of how important it is to take time to stop and notice the little things. Sheryl’s goal is to “kapture” and share God’s glorious creation by preserving these moments of time in the form of digital art. She has most recently become a member of the contributing staff for the Birds and Blooms publication. Her prints are available for purchase at the following places: The Living Room, Artworks and Lakeshore Framing, and Transformations Art Barn all located in South Haven, Michigan. Her images can also be viewed and purchased at: www.facebook.com/KapShotsPhotography and KapShotsPhotography.photoshelter.com
